A Tradition of Quality - For over 100 years

Born in Lancaster, England in 1841, Thomas Peacock moved to Australia at an early age. In 1866 he was married in Kew, Victoria to Angelina Beckett.

1881 in the suburb of Abbotsford, Victoria, Thomas Peacock commenced the textile recycling business he called Thomas Peacock and Sons Pty Ltd.

Thomas Peacock and his son Thomas Edwin Peacock created a new business in 1881 supplying a variety of textile components to the bedding and furniture industry.

The business was called Thomas Peacock and Sons Pty Ltd and over the next 30 years Thomas Edwin's sons Melville and Leslie expanded their range of components and commenced manufacturing of mattress and lounge springs, felt padding, bonded polyester.

Melville's sons Colin and Bruce relocated the business to Kewdale and continued the expansion of the group to include their own foam making operation and the iconic Western Australian mattress manufacturer Slumberking.

Colin is now the chairman of the group and together with his son in law Warren Wild are focused on continuing the 110 year old tradition of growing the local production and distribution of the highest quality products into the furniture and bedding industry.

The bedding division now trades as Peacocks Bedding supplying mattresses, designer edge bases, headboards, pillows, toppers and mattress protectors to Australia's leading retailers and to a variety of commercial accommodation providers.
